Lisa Baird is a representational oil painter living in Fraser, Colorado who takes her inspiration for art – and life – from the outdoors. Seeing ordinary people in extraordinary places: hiking, cycling, skiing, or just enjoying mountain life, supplies the vital creative inspiration for her works.

The Mural “In the Elements” is based on a local color painting of Fraser children playing outside in on a cold, winter day — a scene both ubiquitous and unique to our mountain community because of our persistent cold, snowy, winter climate.

The artist deliberately leaves faces blank so that the viewer sees the child they wish to see in the artwork. For the Fraser Mountain Mural Festival, this concept will be taken one step further by “cutting out” two faces in the completed mural to create an interactive “Photo Cutout Board”.
